As the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spread out of China and swept across the world, Qatar's Nasser al Khelaifi was one of the first people to contact the World Health Organisation (WHO), offering solutions to arrest the spread of the virus.
As the president of football club Paris St-Germain and the chairman of beIN Media Group and Miramax, Khelaifi had at his disposal the persuasive power of sports, media and entertainment to enhance global awareness on virus-mitigation, personal hygiene and safe practices to beat the COVID-19 transmission.
Consequently, Forty six beIN reporters, presenters, analysts and journalists from all over the world tweeted more than 40 videos or shared information related to the WHO under the hashtag #beINFORMED and #SafeHands - including Arsene Wenger, Wael Gomaa, Ruud Gullit, Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari, Carrie Brown, Jens Lehmann among others.
WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Tuesday said he had a "very production call with Paris St-Germain President and beIN Media Group and Miramx Chairman Nasser al Khelaifi of Qatar on assitance towards the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
"I had a very productive call with Nasser al Khelaifi, of @PSG_inside, @beINSPORTS & @Miramax, on his commitment to helping @WHO win the global fight against #coronavirus. Support from the sports, media & entertainment worlds is vital for protecting everyone from #COVID19," he said in a tweet on Tuesday.
